Ginger Conejero reacts to Timberlake's 'I want to marry you' quip

ABS-CBN showbiz reporter and ANC host Ginger Conejero laughed off a Philippine Daily Inquirer report saying the American pop star Justin Timberlake wants to marry her.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Conejero said she was caught by surprise when she saw the front-page photo of her and Timberlake at the airport Thursday with a caption saying that Timberlake was instantly smitten with Conejero.

The Inquirer quoted Timberlake as having told photographers: "I want to marry her."

"Hindi ko nga alam kung saan nanggaling 'yon, pero nakakatawa, nagulat ako, hindi ko din alam kung sinabi nga sa mga photographers," she said.

Conejero said she first learned the news via Twitter.

Conejero said she does not believe the popular Hollywood artist actually said he wants to marry her since he never showed any interest when they met at the airport on Thursday during his arrival.

"Hindi ako naniniwala. Nagugulat lang ako na ganoon kaagad siya nakumbinsi na pakasalan ako," she said.

Conejero said that she won't believe anything unless she hears it straight from Timberlake, who is the boyfriend of American actress-model Jessica Biel.

"Hanggat wala akong naririnig ay hindi ko seseryosohin. At saka ang ganda-ganda ng girlfriend niya si Jessica. At kung ipagpapalit niya ba si Jessica para sa akin? Well, I don't think so," Ginger said.

Conejero shared that she has an admiration for Timberlake, whom she described as good artist and not pretentious.

Justin Timberlake is in Manila to perform as a guest at the concert of Grammy Award winning record producer, singer and rapper Timbaland on March 27 at the SM Mall of Asia's concert venue.

MTRCB suspends 'Showtime' for 1 month

The Movie & Television Review & Classification Board (MTRCB) has ordered a 1-month suspension of ABS-CBN's hit talent show "Showtime."

In its ruling, the MTRCB said the uncalled for utterances of actress Rosanna Roces in the episodes aired on January 4 and 7, 2010 violated its rules and regulations.

The suspension also applies to "Magpasikat, the show that temporarily replaces "Showtime" when it's not on air, and any other similar shows.

The MTRCB also directed the filing of criminal charges against Florida Tan, ABS-CBN vice-president for programming, and other officers "responsible for the violation."

In an official statement sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com, Bong R. Osorio, head of ABS-CBN's Corporate Communications said the MTRCB's decision is not yet final. He said the network will appeal the decision before the Office of the President.

He said the penalty cannot be enforced yet, despite the fact that the decision states it is "effective immediately."

"The decision was not totally unexpected. The MTRCB committee hearing the case could not have contradicted the Chairman, who had earlier issued a preventive suspension order of Showtime," Osorio said.

"ABS-CBN questioned the validity of the preventive suspension order and filed a complaint with the Ombudsman against the MTRCB chairman for violation of the anti-graft and corrupt practices act."

"The MTRCB decision is not final and executory. ABS-CBN disagrees with the decision and will appeal such to the Office of the President. Meantime, SHOWTIME goes on!," Osorio said.

Suspension

Last January, the MTRCB placed "Showtime" on a 20-day preventive suspension after Roces made controversial statements against teachers and co-judge Vice Ganda.

In the episode, Roces encouraged students who appeared on the show to ask questions from their teachers. She went on to describe teachers as "repeaters."

"Huwag kayo makukuntento sa mga itinuturo ng libro at ng teacher. Kung magtatanong kayo, hindi masama iyon. Dahil ang mga teacher, they were just repeaters. Tinuturo lang nila kung ano ang itinuro sa kanila. Hindi na nila itinuturo kung ano ang gusto malaman ng mga bata," she said.

(If you ask questions, that's not bad. Because teachers, they're just repeaters. They just teach what was taught to them. They don't teach what the children want to know.)

Her co-judge on the show, Vice Ganda, later reminded the audience that there are many good teachers, and that people should not generalize when they criticize the failures of educators.

Osang removed but show still suspended

On January 8, ABS-CBN announced that Roces had been removed as a judge of the show, as part of the network's self-regulation policy.

Despite this, the MTRCB still slapped Showtime with a 20-day preventive suspension.

For almost a week, "Magpasikat," replaced Showtime in its noon time slot until a court granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Court of Appeals against the 20-day preventive suspension by the MTRCB.

On January 18, Kapamilya's "Showtime" was back on air.
Viva Condemns People Who Posted Anne Curtis Swimsuit Malfunction Photo
March 23, 2010

Viva Artist Agency, the company that serves as talent manager of Anne Curtis, released a statement condemning all “unscrupulous individuals who have capitalized” on the actress’ swimsuit malfunction photo.

Ms. Veronique del Rosario-Corpus of Viva Artist Center, the company who manages Anne Curtis‘ career, released the following statement regarding this matter:

We are appalled by the behavior of some people who have irresponsibly posted over the internet a photo of our artist, Ms. Anne Curtis Smith, taken during the taping of one of her production numbers for ASAP XV. What happened during the taping was an unfortunate accident. Nothing was done intentionally. Anne was merely doing her best to deliver a solid performance as an artist.

It is disheartening to discover though that certain people have taken advantage of the situation, maliciously uploading the photos over the internet. Worse, participating in the proliferation of the same over the net.

Obviously, some unscrupulous individuals have capitalized on this misfortune and consequently exploited our artist whose only fault was to do her job well.

We appeal to these individuals, please have a little respect and decency to stop posting the photos and distributing the same. Think of your sister, your mother, your wife, and your daughter. Have a heart.

Cesar Montano's son commits suicide; love angle eyed

The 23-year-old son of actor Cesar Montano committed suicide in their home in Quezon City on Friday morning apparently due to a "love" problem.

Initial police reports said Christian Angelo Manhilot, the actor's son with his first wife, shot himself in the head with a .45 pistol inside their house along Yakal Street, Tivoli Royale subdivision in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City at around 6 a.m..

Radio DZMM reported that, according to Manhilot's helpers, Christian Angelo took his own life allegedly due to problems with his girlfriend.

The report said Christian Angelo was talking to someone over the phone before he ended his life.

In an earlier interview, Superintendent Chris Mendoza, commander of the Batasan Police Station, said Manhilot was rushed to Malvar Hospital in Quezon City and was declared dead at 6:40 a.m.. The boy died of a single gunshot wound in the head.

He said that household helper Alicia Pancho was the one who discovered the victim in the kitchen located at the 2nd floor of the Manhilots' house.

Pancho called the police station at the subdivision’s security quarters, the police commander said.

He said crime scene investigators found the boy’s bloodied body slumped in one corner of the kitchen with a .45 pistol by his side.

Aside from the gun, a landline phone and a cellular phone were also found near the boy’s body.

No to autopsy

Cesar Montano, father of Christian Angelo, reportedly rejected an autopsy for his son since he believes his son really took his own life. He also believes there was no foul play, radio DZMM said.

According to Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) chief Inspector Rizaldy Odi, who went in Manhilot's house, they read a text message allegedly from the boy's girlfriend saying that she had already forgiven him if he was asking for forgiveness.

The report said Christian Angelo was able to reply to his girlfriend before the unfortunate incident.

Montano was not home when the incident happened as he was busy campaigning in Bohol.

The incident happened during Friday's kick-off of the campaign for the local elections.

Montano is running for governor of Bohol.

Swimsuit Malfunction Resulted to a Nip Slip

The 25-year old Filipino-Australian actress Anne Curtis experienced a swimsuit malfunction last Sunday on ASAP XV. While on a performance in Boracay, Anne was embarrassed when accidentally her top slip down and bared the right part of her breast. People who were in Boracay during the show have captured the incident on their digicams and cellphones, that made Anne cry because of embarrassment.

On an interview by Gretchen Fullido, an ABS CBN reporter, Anne Curtis said that she felt dishonored and upset because of the disgrace that happened to her. “I didn’t expect people to take photos of mine when in trouble and that makes me feel sad.” “They don’t have any respect for us artists,” said Anne Curtis.

As of now, if you search about the video on Youtube, you can have search results about it but the people who uploaded it have links to their websites, if you click the link to their site, you will notice that the video is not there, that’s a proof that people are using the incident to have popularity, that explains Anne’s point.
